California_CalU Women's Volleyball Scholarship
To be considered, students must meet all eligibility requirement set by the NCAA. Prospective athletes will automatically be considered when appropriate. There is no application. Scholarships are awarded by the head coach.
Edinboro_Lynn Mihoci Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an Anthropology major or a student pursuing a master's degree in Social Sciences. The student must be enrolled full time. The eligible Anthropology major must have earned a minimum of 90 credits with an overall QPA of 3.0 and a 3.5 QPA in Anthropology coursework. The eligible Social Sciences graduate student must be enrolled full time and must have a 3.5 QPA in graduate coursework. The student must complete an application and submit a one-page essay (double-spaced) explaining career goals, which will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee. The student must submit a resume and a recommendation letter from a faculty member. The deadline for submitting a completed application is December 1. The scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of the Spring semester.
Edinboro_Ron Simmons Football Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the PennWest - Edinboro Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. The scholarship may be renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.

To be considered, students must meet all eligibility requirement set by the NCAA. Prospective athletes will automatically be considered when appropriate. There is no application. Scholarships are awarded by the head coach.

This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman, transfer, or upperclassman who is a member of the Edinboro Women's Cross-Country/Track Team who meets minimum NCAA requirements and maintains NCAA eligibility. The scholarship may be renewable for a maximum of five years. Multiple awards may be given.

Bots IQ Scholarship
In support of the Southwestern Pennsylvania BotsIQ mission, PennWest University is making available one renewable, merit-based scholarship of $5,000 to a high school senior that participated on a BotsIQ Team during their high school career. This scholarship may be utilized for any Pennsylvania Western University undergraduate course of study and is renewable up to a total of $20,000 over four years, contingent upon the recipient maintaining good student standing and satisfactory academic progress. The recipient must also meet the regular academic requirements for admission to Pennsylvania Western University.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California Campus who are graduates from Bentworth School District (or successor school dirstrict) and who have participated in interscholastic sports as a student in the district. Scholarships can be renewed for up to seven semesters.
California- Joe Stefko Honorary Scholarship
Scholarship shall be awarded to a Junior or Senior currently enrolled Pennsylvania Western University - California campus student who is majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife and Environmental Studies (Conservation Ecology and Environmental Science concentrations) who has been a member for at least one semester of the Cal U Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society or the Cal U Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (hereinafter referred to as "the Societies"), with a major GPA of at least 2.75 at the time of application. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then the scholarship shall be held until a qualified recipient is identified.
California- Lawrence L. Moses Scholarship in Meteorology
Scholarships shall be awarded to senior (95 credits or more) majoring in Earth Sciences: Meteorology enrolled at PennWest - California campus. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a 3.25 GPA. Students must also write a 500 word essay describing their future career plans in the discipline as well as activities they have been involved with since their enrollment at PennWest - California campus. The applicant must also submit a current resume and two letters of recommendation. One letter must come from someone other than in the department of Earth Sciences at PennWest - California campus. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California- P.S.E.C.U. Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western - California campus who have a grade point average of at least 3.0. Scholarships may be renewable for a maximum of seven semesters. If at any time, a scholarship recipient meeting these criteria isn't available, the award can be made to a student with financial need.

Award is to be given to most deserving student enrolled at PennWest - California Campus.
California_ The Joseph Linn Marino Memorial Award
All candidates for this award are required to have a 3.5 overall QPA, six credits in Anthropology, and be a major in one of the programs in the School of Liberal Arts. This award is to be based solely on merit.
California_ Valley Garden Club Scholarship
Valley Garden Club
The Valley Garden Club has established a scholarship to assist students pursuing an education in the study of fields related to horticulture, agriculture, landscape architecture/design, botany, plant pathology, forestry, agronomy, environmental concerns, city planning, land management.
A $1,500.00 scholarship will be awarded for the full academic year and will be given directly to the student to further his or her education. No financial information is needed to apply for this scholarship. This award does not go against any other financial aid received by student.

California_Abigail A. Grant Scholarship
Scholarships may be awarded to a Junior or Senior student that is majoring in English and has distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient cannot be identified, the award will be given to a student demonstrating financial need.
California_Academic Showcase Scholarships
Awards will be made to students that have earned at least 60 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and a demonstrated need for financial assistance. Students must have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be eligible. If a sufficient number of students cannot be identified using the initial criteria to exhaust funding, students with less than a 2.75 GPA and fewer than 60 credits may be considered. However, students below 2.5 GPA will not be considered. This funding is intended to be awarded to participating students only once during their time as a PennWest - California campus student. Selection - Office of Student Success & Director of Finanical Aid will first evaluate students with a minimum GPA of 3.0, at least 60 earned credit.
California_African American Alumni Society Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time African American students who have distinguished themselves with a minimum of 2.5 QPA, personal and career determination and community/University involvement. The awardee(s) must be full-time Sophomore, Junior or Senior student(s) with a minimum of 33 credits. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_AFSCME Local 2322/SAI, Inc. Scholarship
Shall be awarded to Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level students enrolled at California University of PA. Recipient must be child or direct dependent of AFSCME Local 2322. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a 2.0 GPA. If there are no undergraduate students who meet these qualifications, a graduate level student may be given consideration.
California_Albert & Leona Komacek Family Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students who are majoring in Education and have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Preference will be given to students who are graduates of Brownsville Area High School district, or it's successor district. If in a given year, a scholarship recipient is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a student with financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for up seven semesters.
California_Alberta Grace George Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to non-traditional, women students majoring in art education, or education if no art education majors are identified in any particular year. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education the University.
California_Albina R. Malpezzi Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship shall be for female students who have completed at least 64 credits but not more than 96 credits and enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts. The scholarship recipient must have achieved at least a 3.25 QPA and have demonstrated financial need as determined by the financial aid office. Awards will be granted for one academic year and will be non-renewable.
California_Alex S. & Elizabeth Sabo Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to a Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior or Senior students. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0 and must also be graduates of California Area High School. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Alexander & Florence Malinowski Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to Freshman enrolled at PennWest - California campus. Students must demonstrate that they are in dire need of financial assistance in order to attend the University. Students must also show great academic promise with a desire to succeed in their given field of study. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.25 or better and have an SAT score of at least 1100. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Allen C. "D.C" Dade Memorial Scholarship
Recipients must have distinguished themselves with a 3.0 GPA, demonstrated leadership abilities and participated in community service on and off campus. In the event that no individual has maintained a 3.0 GPA, the most qualified candidate may be considered.
California_Alumni Legacy Fund
Scholarships shall be awarded to an active undergraduate or graduate student who is enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who has a parent, grandparent, or sibling that is a sibling that is a graduate of California University of PA or Pennsylvania Western University - California campus. Preference can be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Alumni Scholarship Annual Fund
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Awards shall be made to two Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in the amount of $2500 per year until their graduation, assuming they maintain a 3.0 GPA. Awards will be made as long as the funds still provide sufficient dollars for award. Awards will be made in conjunction with and consistent with the University's enrollment management strategies and procedures.
California_Alumni Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Awards shall be made in conjunction with and consistent with the University's enrollment management strategies and procedures.
California_Ambridge Area School District Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who are graduates of the Ambridge Area School District (or any successor school district) and have a 2.5 G.P.A. (from high school or at the University). If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be withheld until the next academic year when a qualified student could become available.
California_ANCOR Foundation Legacy Leader's Circle Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in Special Education with a certification in Nursery to grade 12. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded at the discretion of the Director of Financial Aid. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters.
California_Andrew Kovach Memorial Scholarship Fund
Scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen students enrolled at PennWest - California campus. Preference will be given to a student who is majoring in Technology Education, who has earned a minimum GPA of 2.5 and has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. First preference will be given to a student from Fayette County, PA. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a student with financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters providing that the scholarship recipient has maintained a GPA of 3.0.
California_Andy Sepsi Athletic Scholarship Fund
Scholarships shall be awarded to student athletes who have distinguished themselves in football or baseball. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The athlete must be in their Junior or Senior year and must also demonstrate a sound character and be in good academic standing.
California_Angelo & Barbara Armenti Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at PennWest - California campus. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to any student(s) with demonstrated financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of eight semesters.
California_Angelo Armenti, Jr. Endowed Leadership Scholarship
Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a minimum GPA of 3.25. Scholarships shall be awarded to students who demonstrate leadership qualities in extracurricular activities, contributions to their community or campus, and character reflecting the University's core values of Integrity, Civility, and Responsibility. Preference will be given to any student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The objective is to provide four renewable $1,000 (minimum) scholarships, one to a student in each of the four academic classes. The available funds will be divided among four students, one in each class year.
California_Angelo, Sr. & Adele Tavani Armenti Scholarship
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled in their Junior year at the University who have achieved outstanding academic records, and who are involved in one or more of the music programs at the University (e.g. band, choir, musical theater, music minors, or future music majors, etc.) Each scholarship shall be awarded for one academic year, and may be renewed for subsequent years providing the recipient continues to meet the conditions of eligibility and funds are available.
California_Ann Willets Boyd Scholarship Endowment
Scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in Graphic Design. Scholarship recipients must have distinguished themselves with a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Anna Deane Ducar '42 Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University and who are in good academic standing with satisfactory progress toward graduation. Preference will be given to students in Education who have distinguished themselves with a GPA of at least 3.0. Scholarships may be renewed for a total seven semesters.
California_Anna Sutak Berardino '29 Scholarship in Education
Scholarships are awarded to Junior students who are graduates of Uniontown High School (or a successor district) , majoring in Education, who have demonstrated commitment to the teaching profession as a career and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0. Scholarships may be renewed for award to Senior students who continue to meet these criteria. If, in a given year, a qualified Junior recipient(s) cannot be identified, award can be made to qualified Senior or to a Junior or Senior student(s) meeting the criteria above, but graduated from another school district in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. After an initial award, scholarships may be renewed for a total of not more than three semesters.
California_Annette D. Ganassi Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to Sophomore, Junior, Senior, and Graduate students from Monessen, PA and/or who attended Monessen High School. A minimum GPA of at least 3.0 must be maintained at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus in order for the award to be awarded and/or renewed. Preference will be given to any such student who had demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Annie "MAC" (Master Any Challenge) Malkowiak Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time students who have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students will be required to complete an application and will be selected based on their response to an essay and their active participation in campus clubs and organizations and/or community service. Students must submit to Vice President of Student Affairs their application, their activities transcript and the essay explaining why they need the scholarship and include challenges they have faced and overcome in their lives. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Scholarships may be renewable.
California_ANSYS Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students who have financial need and are majoring in a field that involves science, technology, engineering and/or math. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then the scholarship shall be awarded to a student with financial need. Scholarships shall be renewed for a total of seven semesters.
California_Anthony P. McGrew Endowed Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to Seniors majoring in Parks and Recreation Management. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student to has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a student who most closely meets the criteria stated within.
California_Arnowitz Scholarship
Scholarships shall be provided to full-time students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who are residents of the state of Pennsylvania and who are majoring in programs contained within the College of Education and Liberal Arts. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a student based on merit or financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters.
California_Arthur & Millicent Gabriel Family Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) bachelor degree programs in Eberly College of Science and Technology, with preference given to Fayette and Greene County residents. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0 and have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to students with financial need.
California_Arthur & Millicent Gabriel Nursing Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to outstanding Junior or Senior students majoring in Nursing at PennWest - California Campus of PA. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of four semesters.
California_Arthur J. Brickley, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Shall be awarded to outstanding Junior enrolled in PennWest - California campus. Must have distinguished themselves with a 3.5 GPA. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

California_Athletic Training Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to a newly admitted student in the Master of Science Athletic Training Program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated need for financial assistance. Scholarships may not be renewed. If in a given year a recipient isn't available, the scholarship can be awarded to a student based on financial need or merit that is currently enrolled in the Athletic Training Program. Can be awarded to any PennWest student.
California_Auberle Good Kids Endowed Scholarship Fund
A. individual must have been recipients of the services provided by Auberle; or B. are a current employee of Auberle, or a child or sibling of a current employee of Auberle. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance. If no such individual is available or identified, then the Scholarship may be awarded to a student enrolled at California University who has demonstrated high academic aptitude and financial need.
California_Audrey Crockett Scholarship in Elem. Education or Spec. Ed.
Scholarships shall be awarded to students who are majoring in Elementary or Special Education and are graduates of the Bethlehem-Center School District. Qualified students must have disgusting themselves with a grade point average of 3.0. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in Elementary or Special Education with a grade point average of 3.0 graduating from a Washington County Pennsylvania School District. Preference will be given to students demonstrating the greatest financial need.
California_AVI Foodsystems, Inc./Payiavlas Family Endowed Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to incoming Freshmen, students majoring in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management, and Marketing. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University and is in good academic standing.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students with a financial need in the College of Liberal Arts. Students must be from Washington, Westmoreland, or Allegheny County and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5.*If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then the scholarship shall be awarded to a student with a financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters.
California_Balsano Family Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in General Business Administration or Business Economics. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0 minimum. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then the scholarship shall be awarded to a student demonstrating financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of eight semesters.
California_Barcelona Scholarship Fund

Recipients must also be a graduate of Canon-MacMillan High School, first preference, then, Peters Township High School, second preference. If no student qualifies from either high school, then the scholarship may be awarded to a graduate of any Washington County High School, providing the above mentioned criteria has been met. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

Two scholarships shall be awarded to two PennWest - California campus students who have declared majors in one of the University's approved courses of study, are graduates of the Woodland Hills School District, or successor school district, have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to support their education at the University. In the event that no student from the Woodland Hills School District is available, the award will not be distributed until the following year.

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the University who have achieved positive academic records, and who have demonstrated financial need. Students will be selected based on their leadership or potential for leadership through participation in such groups as Student Government, Council of Trustees, and or other student or community organizations. Through their out-of-class activities, the recipient must demonstrate exemplary contributions to their community. Scholarships shall be awarded to nontraditional students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus. Preference will be given to students who are accepted into a degree program administered at the Cal U Southpointe Center. California_Cal U Women's Volleyball Scholarship
Recipient students must have demonstrated academic performance to be fully eligible to receive scholarships, practice and compete according to the guidelines established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate. Recipients shall be members in good standing of the University's intercollegiate Women's Volleyball Team. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semester providing that the student meets Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements as set forth by PennWest - California Campus, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate. In the event that Women's Volleyball ceases to remain an NCAA sanctioned sport at the University, the Fund scholarship can be awarded, using the Fund to any female participant in a Cal U Club Volleyball program with academic achievement equal to or greater than the achievement required by the NCAA for intercollegiate athletes, or to another female student athlete who competes in an NCAA sanctioned sport at PennWest - California Campus. In the event that it becomes impossible to use the Fund to provide scholarships for members of an intercollegiate Women Volleyball team, the Foundation shall make every reasonable effort to inform the donor of that fact.

The scholarships shall be renewable to a selected student for up to three years, or until his/her commencement, provided that the minimum GPA of 3.0 is maintained in his/her major. One scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Applied Engineering and Technology; the other will be awarded to a qualified student irrespective of declared major.

Awards shall be given first priority to students who can prove they are members, or are children, or grandchildren of members of California Methodist Church. Scholarships from the Fund will be awarded to students who participate in the PennWest - Cal U Band. Recipients must have distinguished themselves with a high school GPA of 3.0. The scholarship will initially be awarded to an entering Freshman and may be annually renewable only if the recipient maintains a 2.75 GPA and continues participation in Cal U Band both Fall and Spring semester of each year. It is available to an individual recipient for a maximum of four academic years (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior). Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to a Junior or Senior full-time, undergraduate students enrolled at PennWest University - California campus who have demonstrated financial need. The first preference will be given to pre-medical biology students. The second preference will be given in healthcare related majors, i.e., Medical Technology, Nursing, Chemistry, etc. Each scholarship shall be awarded for one academic year provided funds are available. If the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements, the scholarship can be renewed.

If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) majoring in Communications Disorders is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in one of the Education programs at the University. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) majoring in Technology Education is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in programs within the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology. Scholarships can be based on merit or financial need.

Scholarships will be awarded to students who are enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus that have participated in University recognized community volunteer opportunities. Students must be sophomores and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Preference shall be given to students majoring in Social Work. In the event that a Social Work major who meets the criteria isn't available, scholarship can be awarded to students that have completed volunteer work with a 3.0 grade point average or higher. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of five semesters.

Students should demonstrate outstanding moral character as evidenced by participation in community, service, or church organizations. Applicants must submit an essay reflective of their personality and character, describing their past and current activities and any volunteer services. Applicants should tell why they should be considered for this scholarship and tell what personal sacrifices they have made in order to fund their college expenses. Applicants should include two letters of recommendation which addresses their character and potential for success in the selected field of study. (Optional) Scholarships shall be awarded to Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior or Senior students majoring in Computer Science , Computer Engineering Technology, Management Information Systems, or Electrical Engineering Technology. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated academic aptitude and a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University and is in good academic standing . The scholarship from the endowment will be awarded each Fall to one student until available funds reach $1,500, at which time two scholarships will be awarded. An additional scholarship is to be awarded for each $750 available thereafter.

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at the University who have demonstrated financial need, and show evidence of personal responsibility, unselfishness, and self-reliance. The students must have achieved a 3.0 average, or in the case of incoming Freshmen, manifest promise of academic success. Students should demonstrate evidence of participation in community, service or church organizations. Applicants must submit an essay reflective of their personality and character, describing their past and current activities and any volunteer services. Applicants should explain why they chose their particular field of study. Applicants should tell why they should be considered for the scholarships and tell what personal sacrifices they have made in order to fund their college expenses. Each scholarship shall be awarded for one academic year, and may be renewed for subsequent years providing the recipient continues to meet the conditions of eligibility and funds are available.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students whose studies have advanced them to the rank of Juniors or Seniors and whose elected major is either Chemistry, Chemistry Education, Physics or Physics Education. Recipients must have distinguished themselves with a 2.8 GPA overall and, within the courses of their major in Chemistry and/or Physics, 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Scholarship grants may be renewed to qualified students subject to the availability of funds. Scholarships are to be awarded to students majoring in programs offered by the Department of Theater and Dance. Scholarship recipients must maintain a GP A of 3 .0 or higher. Scholarship recipients must be either: entering Technology Education majors; or students currently enrolled in Technology Education at PennWest - California Campus of PA. Awards to entering Technology Education majors will be to individuals who have distinguished themselves with a high school GPA of at least 3.0 and an SAT combined score of at least 1000. Scholarship recipients currently enrolled in Technology Education must maintain a 3.0 GPA and must meet all of the criteria for approval of Admission to Teacher Education and a recommendation for Student Teaching applicable to their class rank and credits earned. In all cases, preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

The scholarship shall be for Pennsylvania Western University - California Campus freshmen honor students. An honors student will be determined by the guidelines established by the Pennsylvania Western University Honors Program. Awards will be granted for one academic year and will be non-renewable.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who are majoring in Parks and Recreation Management. If, at any given time, this major is no longer offered at the University, scholarships shall be awarded to students based on merit or financial need.

A minimum of two (2) scholarships will be awarded annually to Junior (64-95 credits) and/or Senior (96+ credits) students and the amount of each individual scholarship award will be at minimum $1000 each.

Criteria - To be eligible for award, the student must complete a Dire Needs Fund application and have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be on file in the Financial Aid office at the time of application. The student must have exhausted all financial aid that would be available for their "Dire Need." The student must be an undergraduate student and eligible U.S. citizen.

In the event that no student from Masontown, PA is available , the award will be given to Freshman who has graduated from the Albert Gallatin Area School District, regardless of residency. A $500.00 Scholarships shall be awarded annually to full-time African American students enrolled at PennWest - California campus with a dual major of Pre-K-4 and Special Education, who are student teaching in the semester when the scholarship is awarded. In the event that no student meets the above criteria, the scholarship shall not be awarded until a semester when a student meeting the criteria can be identified.

Students must be nominated by a faculty member, administrator, or staff member of Pennsylvania Western University - California campus. : Each award shall be made for one (I) academic year and is nonrenewable.

Awarded to students who have distinguished themselves with a high school GPA of 3.0 and an SAT combined minimum score of 1000 (critical reading and math). The scholarship will initially be awarded to an entering Freshman and be annually-renewable only if the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and continues to major in an academic program in the department of Applied Engineering and Technology. It is available to an individual recipient for a maximum of 4 academic years (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior). A minimum GPA of 3.0 must be maintained at PennWest - California campus for the award to be renewed. Preference will be given to any such students who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University, and preference will be given to awarding scholarships to upper class students who have previously received scholarships from this Fund.

Scholarships will be awarded to students who have been approved for student teaching in Technology Education and distributed during the semester of their student teaching activity. Different students will receive the award(s) in each semester. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of at least 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Among those, awards will be made to students who have compiled the highest overall GPA at the time of selection. In the event one or more students might have equal GPAs, the final determination will include the chairperson of the Applied Engineering and Technology Department, on behalf of that faculty.

Scholarship recipients must have distinguished themselves in high school or studies at the University with a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University and whose major is in Education. Preference will be given to first year (Freshman) students in the University who are residents of or completed their secondary education in Greene County, PA. In the event that there might be no first-year student(s) so qualified, awards may be made to upper-class student(s) with demonstrated financial need.
California_J. Helsel Family Scholarship Endowment Fund
Scholarships shall be awarded to students who have distinguished themselves with a high school GPA of 3.0 and an SAT combined minimum score of 1000 (critical reading and math). The intent of the donors is to fund the award of annually renewable scholarships to at least one student in each of the four academic ranks (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior). The scholarship will initially be awarded to an entering Freshmen and may be renewed only if they maintain a 3.0 GPA in academic work at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus. Preference will be given to any such students who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University, and preference will be given for awarding scholarships to upper-class students who have previously received scholarships from the fund.
California_J. Robert Craig Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus within the Chemistry and Physics Department. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Freshmen must submit a copy of their high school grade transcripts and a letter of recommendation from their high school science teacher. Freshmen with superior high school records and SAT scores of at least 1200 are eligible. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_J.R. Wheeler Scholarship for Excellence in CUTV
Scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in radio/TV and specifically they must be a member of (or join) CUTV, Pennsylvania Western University - California campus Television. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 2.5. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_James '81 and Aline '83 Lopez Scholarship
Preference will be to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Scholarships shall be renewed for a total of eight semesters.
California_James A. Zell '39 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Scholarship recipients must be in good standing academically in accordance with the policies of the University. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated need for financial assistance to begin or continue their education at the University and who is a varsity athlete participating on one or more of the University's intercollegiate sports teams. In the event that there might be no student(s) so qualified, awards may be made to worthy students with demonstrated financial need.
California_James Blizman Memorial Scholarship Fund
Recipient students must have demonstrated academic performance to be fully eligible to receive scholarships, practice and compete according to the guidelines established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate. Recipients should be members in good standing of the University's intercollegiate Men's Baseball team, preference will be given to a Freshman student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters providing the student meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements as set forth by PennWest - California Campus, National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University affiliates.
California_James T. & Martha E. Davis Scholarship
The scholarship recipients must be academically talented and must be a Junior. The recipients must also maintain good academic standing throughout the term of this award. Scholarships are to be granted to one per year. Preference is to be given to a student from Fayette County first then Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties in that order.
California_Janene Ferris Witchey Memorial Scholarship Fund
One scholarship shall be awarded to a Pennsylvania Western University - California campus female Freshman student, majoring in Business Administration or related field, who has graduated from the Yough School District, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 that has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to support her education at the University. Awards of the scholarship can be renewed for students who continue to meet these qualifications, but in no event for more than seven (7) semesters. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a female student from another high school in Westmoreland County.

Scholarships shall be awarded to Pennsylvania Western University - California campus students at the discretion of the Director of Financial Aid, at times in consultation with the Office of Student Success.
California_Janis M. Zivic '64 Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who are members of underrepresented groups including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex or asexual and have distinguished themselves with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference may be given to students who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The University may modify any selection criteria if determined to be contrary to law or University policy.
California_Jay & Cissy Zeffiro Scholarship Fund
Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University in the areas of business, economics or in the arts and sciences. A first year entering student must demonstrate academic promise with a minimum QPA of 2.5. If the awardee is an existing student at PennWest University - California campus, the student must show academic achievement with a minimum QPA of 2.5.
California_Jean Fleming Memorial Scholarship
One scholarship shall be awarded to one student from each undergraduate level (Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) enrolled at PennWest - California Campus of PA. Recipients must be graduates of Albert Gallatin Area Senior High School. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a 3.0 GPA. Renewal of the scholarship is contingent upon the student(s) maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

Scholarships shall be awarded to full time students majoring in Business. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The scholarship shall be renewable for up to 3 years provided that all the qualifications are met.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in Arts and Design, Theater, or Music. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, the award will be given to a student who demonstrates financial need. Scholarships shall be renewed for a total of seven semesters.
California_Jennie Adams Carter Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to African-American students who embody the values of Jennie Adams Carter - academic excellence and leadership in service to a multicultural community. Recipients shall be full-time junior or senior students who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a demonstrated need for financial aid to continue their education at the University.
California_Jeron Xavier Grayson Scholarship
Preference for scholarship shall be given to students from Pittsburgh Schenley High School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who enroll as students at PennWest - California campus. After Pittsburgh Schenley High School permanently closes in 2011, preference for scholarships will be given to students from Barack Obama Academy of International Studies 6-12 (also known as Pittsburgh Obama 6-12) and then to students from any successor school if Barack Obama Academy of International Studies 6-12 ceases to exists. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Additional preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified from the preferred high school, a scholarship(s) may be awarded to a student(s) from another Pittsburgh public high school. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of eight semesters.
California_Jesse G. Hereda Honors Program Scholarship
Scholarship shall be awarded to students enrolled in the University Honors Program. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.25. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient cannot be identified, the award will be given to a student demonstrating financial need.
California_Joan L. Helsel University Band Endowed Scholarship Fund
Scholarships from the fund will be awarded to students who participate in the PennWest - Cal U Campus Band. Recipients must have distinguished themselves with a high school GPA of 3.0 and an SAT combined minimum score of 1000 (Critical reading and mathematics). The scholarship will initially be awarded to an entering Freshman and may be annually-renewable only if the recipient maintains 3.0 GPA and continues participation in PennWest - Cal U Campus Band in both fall and spring semesters of each year. It is available to an individual recipient for a maximum of four academic years (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior). However, a formal application must be filed each year and preference will be given to awarding scholarships to upper class students who have previously received scholarships from the Fund.

Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Special Education. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to students with financial need.
California_Joe & Debra Hardy Baseball Award
Consideration for this award shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the University who have achieved outstanding academic records, a 3.0 GPA, who are committed to providing service to the community, and who have demonstrated an ability to contribute to the overall success of the team. Each award shall be made for one academic year. Further, extraordinary accomplishments by a recipient may enable that recipient to be again considered for the award.
California_Joe Sarra Football Scholarship
Consideration for this scholarship shall be awarded to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at the University who are members of the University's football team, who have demonstrated a dedication to the sport and to California University of PA and who show a strong work ethic. May be renewed for subsequent years providing the recipient continues to meet the conditions of eligibility and funds are available.
California_John & Helen Beswarick Scholarship Fund
Scholarships of at least $1,000 will be made available for annual distribution. Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled in PennWest California who are majoring in the Bachelor of Veterinary Technology program and have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the university. In the event that a qualified recipient isn't available, scholarships can be awarded to students majoring in any of the veterinary or education programs who also have financial need.
California_John & Jean Stofan Music Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in Commercial Music Technology. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of at least a 3.0. Preference will be given to any such students who have demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient cannot be identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to any student enrolled at PennWest - California campus who exhibits financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for up to eight semesters.
California_John Bitonti Memorial Award
Scholarships shall be awarded to students majoring in Communications Disorders. Qualified students must have achieved Junior class status (minimum of 60 completed credits), completed at least five Communications Disorder courses, and must have distinguished themselves with a minimum GPA of 3.0 both overall and in their major. Preference will be given to any such student that has demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a student majoring in Communications Disorders who demonstrates a financial need.
California_John C. McCrory Memorial Technology Education Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to Juniors (64-95 credits) majoring in Technology Education at PennWest - California campus. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Students must also write a 500 word essay describing their volunteerism in Community Service Activities with emphasis on being a Volunteer Fire Fighter. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_John Garlow Scholarship
Recipient students must have demonstrated academic performance to be fully eligible to receive scholarships, practice and compete according to the guidelines established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate. Recipients shall be members in good standing of the University's intercollegiate Women's Basketball Team. First preference will be given to a basketball player from the Connellsville Area School District or its successor district. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters providing that the student meets Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements as set forth by Pennsylvania Western University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate.
California_John J. Vitchoff, Jr. Family Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to Pennsylvania Western University - California campus Sophomore, Junior or Senior students who have graduated from school districts in Washington, Fayette, Somerset or Westmoreland Counties in PA, is a member of the Support for Success Program and has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to support their education at the University. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of financial need.
California_John P. & Carole Watkins Womens Tennis Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to student athletes who participate in the sports of tennis and who have remained in good academic standing and show qualities of character consistent with University expectations for students.
California_Jonathan Alexander Currie Memorial Scholarship Fund
Scholarship recipients must have distinguished themselves with a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to any non-traditional student, pursing a major in the Earth Sciences (with priority to Environmental Earth Science, Geology, Meteorology) who demonstrates commitment to the field through involvement in a wide scope of academic opportunities and extra-curricular activities to enhance his/her knowledge and ability; and who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. In the event there might be no student(s) so qualified, awards may be made to a worthy student(s) with demonstrated financial need.
California_Joseph "Moe" & Rita Susick Belle Vernon Area Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to incoming Freshmen enrolled at PennWest - California campus. Recipients must be graduates of Belle Vernon High School. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Joseph A. Main AFGE/UMWA Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate student at PennWest University - California campus. Who is a current member or employee or the child or a grandchild of a current member or employee of either AFGE or UMWA. If in a given year, no AFGE/UMWA affiliated candidate emerges from the AFGE/UMWA review, then the scholarship shall not be awarded.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Preference will be given to a student who is a graduate of Meyersdale High School. Scholarship recipients shall demonstrate a desire for academic success, despite the hardships that they have faced and overcome. The selection criteria, in order of importance are to be as follows:

b. Degree of hardship experienced by the applicant, as well as their efforts and success in overcoming that hardship to achieve academic success. The criterion is to be evaluated based on the essay noted in Paragraph #2 above and other supporting material.

d. Efforts made by applicant to meet the financial requirements of attending PennWest - California campus.

If, in a particular year, no student meets the aforementioned criteria, the Scholarship Committee will select a student, with demonstrated financial need. Scholarships may be renewable for a total of six semesters.

If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a student based on financial need.
California_Karen Hjerpe Scholarship for Women's Volleyball
Scholarships shall be awarded to Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior or Senior members of the PennWest - California Campus of PA Women's Volleyball team. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0.
California_Karen L. (Ostapowicz) Susick Monessen High School Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to incoming freshman students enrolled at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus who are graduates of Monessen High School and majoring in Education. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to students based on financial need.
California_Karnash/Mandell Scholarship Fund
Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0 and be enrolled in the Business major at PennWest - California campus. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The scholarship award will be renewable for up to three academic years if all the qualifications were met.
California_Katusa Scholarship - Football

Scholarship shall be awarded to a member of the Vulcans Men's Baseball Team. Recipient must be from Pennsylvania. A qualified undergraduate student must have distinguished them self with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to any such student that demonstrates financial need. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, then the scholarship shall be awarded to a student based on financial need.
California_Keller, Charles C. & Mary Lou Keller Rotary Fund for Sch. & Public Svc
Scholarships shall be awarded to students who meet the minimum requirements set forth by the University Selection Committee and have distinguished themselves according to the following factors:
A) Children or Grandchildren of Rotarians (living or deceased) in Rotary International District #7330 for the counties of Washington, Fayette, Green, Westmoreland, Somerset, and Cambria.
B) Applicants who participated in Rotary youth-related programs (Interact, Rotaract, RYLA or Youth Exchange)
C) If no worthy applicant is identified in subsections A or B above appears, then priority consideration should be given to those nontraditional students (students older than the typical 18-22 year old students) who meet the minimum criteria established by the University Selection Committee.

California_Kenny Hager Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship will be granted to a Junior or Senior student in good academic standing (B average) who needs financial assistance and is majoring in Graphic Communications.
California_Kody Dwire Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to a Pennsylvania Western University - California campus student from Somerset County, PA, who is majoring in Geology that has achieved junior or senior status, and has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If no Geology majors from Somerset County, PA, are identified the scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior Geology major demonstrating financial need. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) is not identified, scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of financial need. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters.
California_Koury Family PGM Internship Award
Awards shall be presented to students enrolled in the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program who have accepted internships as approved by the PGM Director. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Kurt Nordstrom Memorial Scholarship Fund
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology. Recipients do not necessarily have to excel academically or demonstrate most financial need. Scholarships should rather be awarded to recipients who have a real desire to succeed in the field of graphic communications. If a recipient changes his/her major, then the scholarship is to remain in the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology.
California_Larry Maggi Endowed Scholarship Fund
Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0 and be residents of Washington County, PA. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The scholarship award will be renewable for up to three academic years if all the qualifications are met.
California_Laverne Bazilwich Richey Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students who have attained outstanding academic credentials (3.0 or higher QPA), show empathy with women's issues and possess an interest in careers in medicine and/or law. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Lawrence L. Mauro Family Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled at California University who are majoring in any of the Mathematics or Computer Science programs at the University and has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to support their education at the University. In the event that those majors do not exist, the award will be given to a student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to support their education at the University.
California_Lazzaro Family Scholarship Fund
Scholarships will be awarded to students who have distinguished themselves with a high school GPA of 3.0 and who have declared their major to be Chemistry. Preference in selection will be given to those with highest academic achievement and then financial need. Scholarships shall be awarded to students in their Junior Year (64-95 credits) who have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. A minimum GPA of 3.0 must be in maintained at PennWest - California campus in order for the award to be renewed. In addition to maintaining a 3.0 GPA, preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

Preference will be given to a student from the Bronx, New York, if no such student exists, secondary preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated a leadership role in a University club or organization and has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. This award shall be for an incoming Freshman student majoring in Elementary Education. The student must have a GPA of 3.0 or better and be a graduate of Uniontown High School in Uniontown, PA. Awards will be granted for one academic year and will be non-renewable.

Must be awarded to members of the basketball team at PennWest - California Campus of PA. Must have completed 32 credits, distinguished themselves with a 3.0 GPA, exhibited a positive attitude, demonstrated leadership abilities, and participated in community service on and off campus. In the event that no individual has maintained 3.0 GPA, the most qualified candidate may be considered.

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all non-traditional (male or female, 30 years of age or older) students enrolled at PennWest University - California campus, who have attained at least sophomore status, who have achieved positive academic records (GPA of at least 3.0) and who successfully manage responsibilities which exist beyond their academic studies. Students must submit two letters of recommendation and must provide a letter of application. Within this letter, candidates must indicate their educational and career goals, and must describe how this award will be beneficial to their long-range plans. In the event more than one successful candidate is identified, preference will be given to those students participating in the Student Ambassadors program. Each award shall be for one academic year. Further extraordinary accomplishments by a recipient may enable that recipient to again be considered for this award.

At the donor's request, first preference shall be given to students who may come from a foster home. Students considered for this scholarship shall demonstrate high moral character, a respect for their teachers and elders, involvement in the community and self-reliance as demonstrated by their holding a part time or full-time job to help pay for their own education or to assist with providing for their family. If in a given year a successful candidate is not identified from the Belle Vernon High School, second preference shall be given to students from Monessen High School or the Charleroi Area High School . Shall be renewed for subsequent years providing the recipient remains in good academic standing and continues to meet the conditions of eligibility.

Scholarships shall be awarded to Pennsylvania Western University - California campus students who are enrolled in the Master's Degree program in Applied Criminology. Preference shall be given to student who require financial assistance to continue their studies at the University. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) cannot be identified, then scholarships shall be awarded to a graduate student in the Applied Criminology program without regard to financial need. Scholarships may be renewed if the recipient continues to have the greatest financial need of eligible students in the following year.

Scholarships may be awarded to incoming Freshmen students enrolled at the University. Recipients must be graduates of Jefferson-Morgan High School (Greene County, PA) or it's successor district(s) who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater in their high school studies. Preference will be given to female students who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. First preference will be given to students who are high school graduates of the Belle Vernon Area School District majoring in Middle Level Math Education and have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. If no student in the Belle Vernon Area School District is available, the scholarship shall be awarded to students majoring in Middle Level Math Education.

When single mothers are not identified, other adult learners may be eligible for award. Scholarships shall be awarded during the Spring semester to a Junior student majoring in English for use in the recipient's Senior year. Qualified students must have completed all undergraduate academic years of study at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus, have distinguished themselves with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have demonstrated campus and community service. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient is not identified, scholarships shall be awarded to a Junior student majoring in English who has demonstrated academic excellence and campus and community service.

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at the University who are residents of the Mon Valley area. For purposes of this scholarship, the Mon Valley area is to include Fayette County and Washington. Donors request that first preference be given to those students whose ethnic, cultural and/or national backgrounds contributes to the diversity of the student body. To the extent permitted by law, first consideration for this scholarship shall be given to African American students. Recipients must be African-American graduates of a Mon Valley NAACP service area school district that currently includes Belle Vernon Area, Bentworth, Bethlehem Center, Brownsville, California Area, Charleroi Area, Elizabeth Forward, Monessen, Ringgold, and Yough School Districts. The Aligning Career & Campus Experiences for Student Success (ACCESS) scholarship offers students up to $10,000 per year in scholarship support and access to unique learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. Scholarship dollars received may be used to cover tuition, on-campus room and board for four years. Recipients are also eligible for a summer stipend that allows you to participate in research. Scholarships should be given to all full time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at PennWest - California campus who have demonstrated financial need. Each Scholarship shall be awarded for one academic year and may be renewed for subsequent years providing the recipient continues to meet the conditions of eligibility and funds are available.
California_PA American Water Co Scholarship in Memory of Gerald C. Smith
Scholarships shall be awarded to students who have distinguished themselves with a high school GPA of 3.0 and an SAT combined minimum score of 1000. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Awardees should concentrate their studies in the following preferred areas of study: Environmental Science, Chemistry or Biology.
California_Pasquale & Maria Tarullo Music Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to students who are active members of a Department of Music performing ensemble. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The first $500 of annual distribution shall be awarded as scholarship. When the total amount available for annual distribution exceeds $500, the additional funds should be divided equally between the Pasquale and Maria Tarullo Music Scholarship and the Tarullo Music Department Award. The Tarullo Music Department Award shall be used at the discretion of the Department of Music Chairperson.
California_Paul J. Killius, Jr. Special Education Scholarship
The scholarship will be for undergraduate and/or graduate students majoring in Special Education certification degree programs.
California_Paul W. Mudry Memorial Scholarship
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduates who are currently assigned as work-study students and have also completed one previous work-study assignment in the Physical Plant Department. Eligible candidates must have successfully completed 32 undergraduate credits at Pennsylvania Western University - California campus, have maintained a minimum QPA average of 2.67, and have a demonstrated financial need to continue their education. Each scholarship shall be awarded for one (1) academic year. In the event that a student meeting these qualifications isn't identified, the scholarship can be awarded to a student based on financial need.
California_Perry Family Scholarship Fund
Scholarship recipients must be students in good standing who participate in inter-collegiate football program of the University. Preference will be given to a student(s) enrolled in a major in Education and in the event that there might be no student(s) so qualified, awards may be made to a student(s) enrolled in other academic majors.
California_Phi Delta Kappa Education Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to Junior-level students who have been admitted into a teacher education program within the College of Education and Human Services. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of at least 3.50 within any of the certification programs within the College of Education and Human Services. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Phil Schaltenbrand/Westerwald Pottery Scholarship
The scholarship is a one time award given to an incoming Freshman. A local person from the five-county area consisting of: Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland will be given first consideration. If no applicant is found, then it will be opened to anyone in the state of Pennsylvania. GPA (must be in top 10% of graduating class) and class rank are very crucial . If college board scores are high they will be considered, but not carry as much weight as the other two criteria. Applicants must write a one-page essay stating therein what their educational goals are at PennWest University - California campus; what they expect to accomplish with it; and why they are coming to school at PennWest University - California campus.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology, pursing a degree in Technology Education. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters.

Scholarships shall be awarded to Junior and Senior students majoring in Technology Education. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. California_Phyllis McManus Class of 1970 Scholarship Fund
Recipients shall be graduates of Brownsville High School, or any other high school subsequently serving the Brownsville, Pennsylvania geographic region should Brownsville High School cease to exist. First preference shall be given to students enrolled in Nursing, with second preference to students enrolled in the Education program. If no qualified student is enrolled in either Nursing or Education, any student meeting the geographic and other requirements of this agreement may be selected. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of eight semesters.

Scholarships will be awarded annually to full-time students who have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. The scholarship can be renewed.
California_Post - 9/11 Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to undergraduate students who are attending Pennsylvania Western University - California main campus and have served a minimum of 90 consecutive days of active duty after September 11, 2001 as a member of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard (excludes active duty training or initial entry training)or as a member of the Reserve or National Guard components. Students must have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.75 and have demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Scholarship value is contingent upon availability and multiple scholarships may be awarded in any given year provided that the amount of each award is not less than $250.00. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of two semesters.

Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. In the event that there might be no student(s) so qualified, awards may be made to a worthy student(s) with demonstrated financial need.

Scholarship recipients must be sophomores enrolled in good standing as members of the University's Honors Program.

First preference for scholarships shall be given to student-athletes who graduated from a high school in the United States. Recipient student-athletes must have received a 3.0 GPA in the core high school courses and become a partial or full qualifier according to the guidelines established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate. Recipients must be of good character as determined by appropriate representatives of the University and have demonstrated a need for financial assistance as determined by officials of the University's Office of Financial Aid. Scholarship(s) may be renewable for a total of eight semesters. All recipients shall be members in good standing of the University's women's intercollegiate programs at the time of each selection.

Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

Recipient students must have demonstrated academic performance to be fully-eligible to receive scholarships, practice, and compete according to the guidelines established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate. Recipients shall be members in good standing of the University's intercollegiate Men's Basketball Team. Scholarships may be renewed for a total of seven semesters providing the student meets Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements as set forth by PennWest - California Campus, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or any successor governing athletic body with which the University may affiliate.

Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. This scholarship will be renewable for an additional two semesters, provided the student continues to meet all the above qualifications.

Scholarships shall be awarded to students who are graduates of either Cornell or Moon Area School Districts. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a dire need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

Scholarships shall be awarded to an incoming Freshman student entering California University of PA from the California Area High School. The recipient should have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.

Scholarships shall be awarded annually to children of parents who are presently employed or retired from the mining industry. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University.
California_Robert "Roy" Hazelwood Applied Criminology Scholarship
Scholarships shall be awarded to Pennsylvania Western University - California campus students who are enrolled in the Master's Degree program in Applied Criminology. Preference shall be given to student who require financial assistance to continue their study at the University. If, in a given year, a qualified scholarship recipient(s) cannot be identified, then the scholarship shall be awarded to a graduate student in the Applied Criminology program without regard to financial need. Scholarships may be renewed if the recipient continues to have the greatest financial need of eligible students in the following year.

Scholarships shall be awarded to a Pennsylvania Western University - California campus students who are majoring in Business Administration: Accounting. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time senior undergraduate students enrolled at the University and who are majoring in Earth Science, Geography, Parks and Recreation Management or Geology. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. Each scholarship shall be awarded for one (1) academic year, and may not be renewed.

Scholarships shall be awarded to a Junior (64-95 credits) majoring in English at PennWest - California campus. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.25 overall and 3.5 in their major. Preference will be given to any such student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue his/her education at the University. This award shall be renewable as for second year, providing the recipient maintains the GPA stated above.

Scholarships shall be awarded annually to a student-athlete(s) who are members in good standing of the University's intercollegiate football team at the time of each selection.
